Few ears have gone deaf to the buzz of NBC’s anticipated new fall show, “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.”

But if you’re one of them, let me get you caught up: Matthew Perry, Bradley Whitford, Amanda Peet, D.L. Hughley and Nathan Corrdry all star in “Studio 60.” The cast is tailored more for a Hollywood blockbuster than a television show, but of course, that’s the draw.

In addition, it’s brought to you by the Emmy Award-winning executive producers of “The West Wing” Aaron Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme. Sorkin is also a writer for “The West Wing.”

“Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” is based on a failing late-night comedy-sketch review of the same name. Jordan McDeere (Amanda Peet), the new network president who inherits the show, brings in Matt Albie (Matthew Perry) and Danny Tripp (Bradley Whitford) as creative team to breath life back into “Studio 60.”

According to the “Studio 60” guide, each episode will include clips of the fictional “Studio 60” show complete with celebrity guest-hosts and musical guests. The first episode will feature guest-host Felicity Huffman of “Desperate Housewives” and the hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia.

A reviewer on blogcritics.org praised Perry for his performance but felt the script seemed empty. He was quick to say he’s not giving up on the series, however. “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” premiers Monday, Sept. 18, on NBC at 9 p.m.
