The “Fire Stotts” bandwagon is filling up faster than Santa’s sleigh this time of year.
The holiday season is upon us, and more and more fans are adding the Milwaukee Bucks to their naughty list. Despite the festive new red and green color scheme, the Bucks might end up having a blue Christmas thanks to a myriad of injuries and some poor defense.
High expectations have diminished as the Bucks continue their miserable start to the 2006-’07 season.
Fortunately, in the spirit of Christmas, many members of the Bucks have already sent out their Christmas lists. Here are a few things they can expect to find under the tree.
Michael Redd: Someone to pass to
It’s no surprise to see Redd’s shooting percentage up again from last year, especially considering the talent around him — or lack thereof. With injuries to Bobby Simmons and Charlie Villanueva, the Bucks don’t have a consistent scoring option beyond Redd. With shooters like the Clippers’ Corey Maggette on the trading block, it’s possible that Larry Harris could try to acquire some short-term help.
Bobby Simmons: A new foot
The Bucks were head over heels when they acquired Simmons last off-season, but now an injury to the heel might sideline the small forward for the entire season. Simmons will undergo surgery on his foot and likely won’t be ready to play until next Christmas … hopefully.
David “The First” Noel: Playing time
Noel? More like No PT for Noel. While he rots on the bench, the Bucks are playing no D and ending up with no Ws. Though the rookie out of North Carolina isn’t starting material at this stage in his career, he should be getting more time due to the lack of depth the Bucks suddenly have at small forward.
Terry Stotts: Some fan support
The “Fire Stotts” bandwagon is filling up faster than Santa’s sleigh this time of year as a result of Stott’s questionable substitutions and strategies. While it’s often difficult to defend Stotts’ game plan, it’s also important to consider that he doesn’t have a whole lot to work with.
Larry Harris: Wins
What’s worse than coal in your stocking? How about Herb Kohl in your office. If the Bucks don’t starting winning games — and fast — the GM might be on the hot seat. Harris has made some risky moves in his tenure, and if they don’t start paying off, he could be getting the boot.
As for me, all I want for Christmas is for the Milwaukee Bucks to start winning some games. That, and maybe a bike.
