The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers women’s soccer team clinched the Horizon League regular season title outright Friday with a 1-0 win over the Loyola Lady Ramblers.

Coach Michael Moynihan got his 100th career win in the game, accomplishing the feat on his first try.

The lone goal was a free kick by sophomore forward Amanda Winn in the 30th minute of the match. Freshman Erin Kane saved three shots on goal over the game, pouncing on the ball every time it entered the goal area like the true Panther she is.

Kane tied a school record, pitching her eighth shutout of the season. All of the Panthers’ shots on goal were taken in the first period, with Loyola goalkeeper Emily Peick blocking every one except the all-important deciding score.

With the victory, the team extended its unbeaten streak to eight matches, all against Horizon League foes.

The regular season will close out on Friday, with the Panthers (9-4-3 overall, 7-0-1 Horizon League) taking on non-conference foe Colorado College (7-6-3 overall) at Engelmann Field.
