No more trouble in Titletown, right? Maybe.
After Green Bay’s 52-3 blowout of the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, the Packers are pretty pumped and the city of Green Bay should be, too.
Monday was Brett Favre’s 36th birthday. Just a regular day for the field general, right? No, not here in Wisconsin.
Monday was Brett Favre Day in all of Wisconsin. Yes, it was Columbus Day in most of the nation, but for Wisconsinites it was Brett Favre Day.
Oh, did he deserve it. In the victory, Favre proved that he is still the gunslinger he has always been. Throwing for 215 yards and three touchdowns, Favre looked impressive.
Over the past several weeks, journalists from all over the nation criticized the Packers play and suggested Favre should retire. Some even suggested benching Favre in favor of Aaron Rodgers to get him some experience.
What the media doesn’t understand is Favre will never let himself be benched. A man with that much respect and impact on the team has all the say in the world and he definitely won’t let such a thing happen.
This win sends positive vibes through Packers Country and to Favre. He has gone through so much adversity and played through it, he can’t stop now.
Favre makes the Packers competitive and entertaining. Right now, his supporting cast isn’t exactly what it used to be.
With wide receiver Javon Walker out for the season, Favre had to find a new target. He found Robert Ferguson. Ferguson had been on the receiving end of some of Favre’s “constructive criticism” in the previous weeks.
Favre just wanted to give him more of an incentive to compete, and compete he has. He caught three balls for 81 yards and a score Sunday.
Favre isn’t going to let injuries bring him down. He will fire the ball to whoever is in the lineup. David Martin and Donald Lee, both backup tight ends, have stepped up in Bubba Franks’ absence and Favre trusted them enough to throw to them.
Favre maintains a positive attitude and a competitive spirit unique to only him. This is why Green Bay needs him.
Don’t quit Brett; we all need you in Wisconsin. Shun the media for suggesting that you be benched or traded.
And most of all, keep playing.
