It looks like one half of their body wants to go to the club or to work, while the other half isn’t sure if it is actually awake.

Times of butt-revealing shorts and mini-skirts are now coming to an end.

So what do young women do when it is too cold to wear shorts but too hot to wear jeans? They wear gaucho pants.

Floods and capris are leaving the fashion scene somewhat to allow room for the — at first glance — oversized capris pant (in essence, gaucho pants).

Like capris and floods, gaucho pants are longer than shorts and shorter than pants. They look like they could be a type of insanely flared capris. They fit like normal pants at the top but flare out like bellbottoms just below the knee.

The term gaucho originally described a South American cattle herder — equivalent to the North American cowboy. Gauchos had a very distinct fashion sense that included loose-fitting pants called bombachas. These bombachas, worn by males, have somehow evolved into a trendy fashion for young women again.

The trend of gaucho pants seems to be catching on everywhere — for the second time. Gaucho pants were originally popular in the late ’60s and early ’70s, but being true to fashion’s circular nature, they are now coming back.

Gaucho pants seem to be a versatile item every woman should have. It is possible to wear them with a variety of other pieces, from an elegant, lacy tank top to a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee sweatshirt.

For the most part, however, gaucho pants seem like a nice addition to a classier wardrobe. Women who wear these “nice”-looking pants with sweatshirts just look confused. It looks like one half of their body wants to go to the club or to work, while the other half isn’t sure if it is actually awake.

On the other hand, a woman who wears a nice sweater or blouse with the gaucho pants looks very well put together.

Don’t worry, many places sell these popular new pants for a variety of different prices. From $10.99 at Macy’s to $260 at Saks Fifth Avenue. More common retailers like dELiA’s have gauchos for $19.99, while Forever 21 sells them for $25.80.
