Drugs and alcohol
A 19-year-old male student and a 20-year-old female student were warned for underage drinking on May 4 at 10:25 p.m. The students were seen throwing beer cans onto the playground of Hartford Avenue School.
An 18-year-old male student was warned for underage possession of alcohol on May 5 at 8:17 p.m. Sandburg security staff checked his bag and found 12 cans of Miller Lite beer.
A 19-year-old male student was issued a $252.50 citation on allegations of first offense underage possession of alcohol on May 5 at 10:36 p.m. UWM Police officers in street clothes saw him carrying a blue backpack, which contained 10 cans of beer and a keg tapper. When officers spoke with the man, he said, “You guys got me a couple weeks ago. I just got out of court …” When they asked him if he had turned 21 yet, the man replied, “Nope, still 19.”
Theft
A Braun elevator company employee reported his equipment bag stolen on May 1 at 1:13 p.m. The man left the bag in the men’s restroom in Palm Gardens in Sandburg Hall sometime after 4 p.m. on April 26. The bag contained a Palm Pilot and various adapters and cables valued at $3,200.
A 19-year-old female student reported her bicycle stolen from the south lawn bicycle racks outside Sandburg Hall on May 2 at 7:35 p.m. The 16-inch Schwinn had a lock and chain, but the woman said it was possible she forgot to lock it. The bicycle was valued at $300.
A UWM staff member reported his vehicle broken into at the Great Lakes Water Institute on May 3 at 3:04 p.m. The radio faceplate and CD player, valued at $365, were stolen.
A 21-year-old student reported his digital camera stolen from the Physics Building on May 4 at 10:32 a.m. The camera, valued at $500, was in the man’s backpack on May 3 while he was in the building.
A 21-year-old male student employee at Pacific Wraps in the Union reported his wallet and cell phone stolen on May 4 at 12:56 p.m. The wallet and cell phone were in his backpack in the Union men’s employee locker room. The wallet contained $50, IDs and credit cards. The items were valued at $223.
A 21-year-old male student reported his bicycle stolen from outside the Union on May 4 at 6:39 p.m. He secured his bicycle to the rack with a cable lock around 4:20 p.m. and returned later to find it missing. The bicycle, which had special Crank Bros. pedals, was valued at $1,120.
Two 20-year-old male students were issued citations on allegations of retail theft on May 6 at 3:02 a.m. The men took cookies from Palm Gardens in Sandburg Hall, valued at $3. Both received $284 citations for retail theft. One of the men also received a $378.50 citation on allegations of possession of marijuana and a $315.50 citation on allegations of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Other
A UWM Information & Media Technologies staff member reported the rear hatch window of a state-owned vehicle broken on May 1 at 3:20 p.m. There was a two-inch hole in the window. The value of the damage is unknown.
A 33-year-old female student reported her car might have been stolen from outside the Union on May 3 at 9:09 p.m. The UWM Police attempted to locate the vehicle, but were unable to find it. They referred the woman to the Milwaukee Police Department and the city tow lot. As of now, the car has not been towed.
University Housing reported three tricycles stolen from the south lawn outside Sandburg Hall on May 5 at 2:53 p.m. Sandburg security staff saw two males riding the tricycles, and UWM Police observed the men riding them in front of a residence on the 2000 block of East Kenwood Boulevard. They also saw the third tricycle in the yard. A 20-year-old male was referred to the District Attorney on allegations of theft. A 22-year-old man was also referred to the District Attorney on allegations of theft and had a warrant for probation violation. SHAC rented the tricycles for its Spring Escape 2006 event.
