‘Deaf, Deaf Diverse World’ to celebrate culture

The UWM American Sign Language Interpreter Training Program is hosting its sixth annual “Deaf, Deaf Diverse World” production April 20.

DDDW brings together the deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities to boost awareness and celebrate diversity.

This year, DDDW will feature performances by Mindy Moore and Theron Parker, multitalented deaf entertainers who will perform their rendition of “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.” Deaf Russian dancer Liliana Morgan will also perform.

Representatives from local community resources for the deaf and hard of hearing will be present. The event will also have face painting, raffle prizes and refreshments.

Tickets are $8 in advance for students, $9 in advance for non-students and $10 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased in Enderis Hall on the sixth floor.

DDDW will be held April 20 in the Union, Wisconsin Room. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the entertainment begins at 6 p.m.
