Anodyne Coffee Roasting Company
1208 E. Brady St.
276-2739
anodynecoffee.com
Pedestrians nearing the west end of Brady Street are often greeted by the strong scent of freshly roasted coffee beans.
The responsible party: Anodyne Coffee Roasting Company, a mellow, independently owned coffeehouse with a substantial food and beverage selection.
Established in 1998, Anodyne is one of the few local cafes that roasts its own coffee and makes bakery, soups, appetizers and entrees from scratch.
Smoking is permitted at Anodyne, but it tends to be less smoky than other independent Milwaukee coffeehouses.
The crowd is all ages, including those looking for a pleasant, comfortable place to study or read and those looking to catch up with friends. With WiFi access, Anodyne is a fantastic place to enjoy a cup of coffee and get some work done.
Rochambo Coffee & Tea House
1317 E. Brady St.
291-0095
rochambo.com
The Rochambo Coffee & Tea House derives its name from the popular decision-making hand game, often referred to as “rock-paper-scissors.” If choosing a spot for an excellent cup of tea, Rochambo should be the decision of choice.
Rochambo, which has recently been remodeled, offers a huge tea menu, including a variety of green, oolong, white and black teas and tisanes.
Featuring many locally grown products, Rochambo’s menu changes with the availability of fresh products at various times of the year.
Modeled around the welcoming environment found in European cafes, Rochambo regularly offers poetry readings and music performances.

Featuring its famous Frappuccinos, brewed coffee and other hot and iced drinks, Starbucks continues to serve the more conservative patrons of Brady Street.
Like its many national stores, this Starbucks features many products other than its food and beverage selection. Among the items available are a variety of coffee cups and travel mugs, apparel, photo frames, special holiday items and gift packets.
Unique to Starbucks are the various music collections available for purchase, including favorites by Elvis Costello, Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, Ray Charles and the Rolling Stones, among others.
Whether it’s the T-Mobile HotSpot wireless broadband Internet service, the sleek leather furniture or the clear street view, Brady Street’s Starbucks tends to draw a more professional crowd.
