Dressed-down elegance
Balzac

Want some cheese with that wine? Try Balzac on North Arlington Place. Located across from Hi Hat Garage, Balzac is a great place to saturate you with some fantastic wine and appetizers.
The location of this bar guarantees that one can drink wine and still be casual. Jeans and a T-shirt will suffice, as this is the uniform worn by all of the bartenders. It creates an atmosphere conducive to heavy drinking and lifting of the spirits.
With an ever-changing wine selection, you are bound to find something to satisfy your palate.
Brian Miracle, the sommelier, assures that any wine you are hoping to see will eventually hit the ever-rotating list. With a last name like Miracle, one is destined to believe all of the promises that escape his lips.
The rest of the staff of Balzac adds to the decor of the bar, each employee being different from the last. A favorite local character and the host of Trivia Night at Nomad, Jim Hill, bartends at Balzac, constantly adding humor to the air.
If you are not into wine, Balzac carries a nice array of beers as well as mixed drinks.
One of the best reasons to stop at this relatively new bar (located where Watermark used to be) is the decor. The dark colors and the different patterned fabrics decorating the backs of the booths create a beautiful result: comfort and class. For a fun time at Balzac, just add wine!
