Brady Street is arguably the most popular spot on the East Side, and Bosley on Brady is a welcome new addition.

It was named one of the top five best new restaurants in Milwaukee by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the veracity of this title was confirmed during my visit.

The dining room is small but intriguing, with big band music playing over the sound system. Red, black, tan and many extremely bright paintings cover the walls, and leopard print table clothes with large sheets of paper dress the tables. The designs carved into the chairs are all different, adding to the conservatively wild feel of the dining room.

About 10 minutes into our time at Bosley (and after about the fourth time our waters were refilled), the waiter brought us two servings of a crab and artichoke dip intermezzo. Light and well proportioned, it was a perfect appetizer.

The menu is inspired by Key West flavors. I ordered the Ahi tuna and my date — my mom — chose the scallops entree.

I was immediately intimidated by my entree solely because of its beauty. Sitting atop a large square plate and drizzled with different colored sauces, I did not want to ruin this work of art in front of me.

The plate boasted four pepper-crusted medallions of tuna, two shrimp and tempura vegetables. The meal had the perfect amount of flavor without tasting too fishy. The shrimp were perfect additions, making the $24 dish seem worth the money.

My mom enjoyed her scallops, which came with risotto gorgonzola and asparagus.

The environment of Bosley was a nice alternative to its humble neighbor, the Brady Street Pharmacy. If you are willing to expand your budget for an upscale night on the East Side, I highly recommend Bosley.
