The Jazz Estate is about as dark and smoky as a Tom Waits tune, but that is only part of the appeal. It is a hidden gem.
The scene is reminiscent of a ’50s-style jazz club. Pictures of great musicians like Miles Davis grace the walls while dim candles sit atop every table, creating a comforting, shadowy effect.
What makes The Jazz Estate so special is that it features fantastic jazz music that fits the setting perfectly. It feels as if you are no longer in Milwaukee — you are in downtown Chicago, New York, Memphis or New Orleans. It is the kind of place people visit to have light conversations, sip on cool drinks and appreciate the sounds of jazz.
Tuesdays seem to be the busiest night when the weird sound of the Erotic Adventures of the Static Chicken is showcased.
Besides Mondays and Wednesdays, there is an entertaining live event going on almost all of the time. Some shows require a small cover charge.
