Campus Police Report

Theft

A toolbox and two air pumps valued at $1,000 were stolen from a construction zone at Engineering and Mathematical Sciences sometime from Dec. 28 and Jan. 2.

A video camera valued at $506 was reported stolen from Merrill Hall at 11:27 a.m. Jan. 2.

A textbook valued at $48 was stolen from the Union Bookstore at 12:37 p.m. Jan. 3. A 19-year-old male student was arrested on allegations of theft and issued a citation for $282.75.

An iPod valued at $120 was stolen from a student’s dorm room on Jan. 5 at about 11:25 p.m. in the West Tower of Sandburg Hall.

A student reported that his school supplies, valued at $150, were stolen from a fourth floor studio in Architecture and Urban Planning at 2:38 p.m. Jan. 5.

A student reported that her purse had been stolen from the basement of the Arts Building 8 a.m. Jan. 6. The purse and its contents were valued at $180.

A student’s wallet was stolen from his duffle bag in the Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts at 10 a.m. Jan. 7. The wallet contained credit cards and $200.

A drill, batteries and charger were reported stolen from a construction zone at Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 7.

A grill valued at $160 was reported stolen from the Business Administration Building on Jan. 9.

Burglary

A coffee machine was reported broken into at 9:39 a.m. in Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. The damage was estimated at $50, but the thief was not able to access the money box.

Robbery

A student reported that he was a victim of armed robbery at 12:53 p.m. Jan. 10. The student said that the robbery occurred on Stowell, a half block south of Mellencamp Hall, where three college-age men pulled up in a light-blue Chevrolet Caprice and robbed him. One of the suspects exposed a gun, at which point the student handed over a gold wedding ring, a high school ring and $100.

Disorderly Conduct

A 27-year old male student was arrested on Jan. 7 on allegations of disorderly conduct after he caused a disturbance in the Sandburg Hall commons. The man became verbally abusive when security staff would allow only two of the four guests he brought to enter the complex. He was fined $282.75.

A man was arrested for disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia at 10:33 p.m. on Jan. 22. The man was allegedly screaming obscenities at security staff in the Sandburg Hall commons. Police searched him and found a marijuana pipe.

Underage Drinking

One man and three boys were arrested for underage consumption in the South Tower of Sandburg Hall at 11:57 p.m. Jan. 21. A liter of vodka was confiscated from one of the boys.

Other

An intoxicated man was removed from a Milwaukee County Transit bus in the Union Circle at 3:30 a.m. Jan. 7. The man was turned over to a responsible party.

A male student refused to leave the library after closing hours on Jan. 9. When a computer lab monitor asked the man to leave, he became angry and yelled out “two more minutes.” When the police were called at 12:34 a.m., the man fled from the library.

An officer reported graffiti on two pillars in the Sandburg parking garage on Jan. 10. The graffiti, which cost $100 to remove, consisted of obscenities and smiley faces.

A large water leak was reported on Jan. 11 at 2:24 p.m. The leak was coming from a stairwell on the seventh floor of Bolton Hall. Offices on the sixth, seventh and eighth floors reported flooding, but no monetary damage was reported.

A male student needed access into Engelmann Hall to meet with the men’s volleyball team at 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 11. He used one of the emergency phones on campus and dialed 911 to make his request. An officer arrived to let him into the building and told him that emergency phones are to be used only for emergency situations. No citations were issued.

An employee in the University Services Building reported that he had been receiving harassing phone calls from his ex-wife on Jan. 12. No threats were made, and the caller was continuously calling and hanging up. No citations were issued.

A 19-year-old man was reported unconscious in his dorm room in the North Tower of Sandburg Hall at 1:23 a.m. Jan. 23. Medics revived the student, who refused further medical attention. No citations were issued.
