The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team swept the Horizon League awards last week after an impressive performance at Ball State on Nov. 18.

The men's swimming and diving team was also recognized by the league after its first-place finish in the meet.

The individual accolades were presented to junior Lindsay Caldwell, who was dubbed Swimmer of the Week, while senior Erin Blemberg nabbed the Diver of the Week award. This week marks the first time this season Milwaukee women have swept the awards.

This is Caldwell’s first Swimmer of the Week honor this season and the fourth of her career. Blemberg is a regular recipient of this prestigious award, winning it for the fourth time this season.

Caldwell won three individual races at the Doug Coers Invitational hosted by Ball State on her way to being named the Swimmer of the Meet. With those three wins, Caldwell brings her total number of individual races won to a staggering 12 wins in 14 tries.

Blemberg dove into first place in two events — the one-meter event scoring 263.20 points, and the three-meter board with 306.90 points.

The awards are the seventh and eighth for the women’s swimming and diving team this season.

The awards didn’t stop there for the Panthers as the league also named freshman Robby Leibold the Swimmer of the Week for the men. This award comes after his astounding three personal victories at the Coers Invitational, at which he was also named Swimmer of the Meet.

Liebold topped the competition in the 400 individual medley, 500 freestyle and the 1650 freestyle, leading the Panthers to first place in the five-team event.

The award is the fourth for the men’s swimming and diving team this season, with sophomore swimmer Chase Gravengood and senior diver Jeff Jasinowski sweeping the awards the week of Oct. 19. Jasinowski was also named Diver of the Week Nov. 15.

The swimmers and divers will wish each other good luck as they part ways at the beginning of December. The divers head to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the Notre Dame Diving Invitational Dec. 1-3, while the swimmers compete in the Wheaton Invitational Dec. 2-3.
