NCAA Football: It’s official — the Reggie Bush NFL sweepstakes is now underway. Does this guy ever have a bad game? A bad game for him is 60 yards rushing with two touchdowns, 80 yards receiving and 100 yards each on punt and kickoff returns.
The Heisman race will come down to Bush, USC teammate Matt Leinart and Texas QB Vince Young. Too bad when USC and Texas face off in the Rose Bowl, the trophy will already have been awarded.
NCAA Basketball: Schools have been playing in neutral gyms across the globe and providing some great early-season games. There were plenty of thrills last week in overtime and even triple overtime contests in the Maui Invitational Tournament in Hawaii.
Top 15-ranked Michigan State played in the three-OT contest and lost to Gonzaga 106-103, but beat Arizona, who was ranked above them, in the third-place game the following night.
The Zags, after their heart-stopping win, lost to UConn in the tournament championship game that was decided in the final seconds. Even though the games are being played overseas, they have been showed live on ESPN for fans everywhere to check out.
NBA: Although the games are hard to watch sometimes, I have followed a few stories in the first month of the season.
The biggest story is the fast start by the Los Angeles Clippers. They have a solid starting five with Sam “I am” Cassell, Elton Brand and Corey Maggette. Folks are down on the West this season and the Clippers could challenge for a playoff berth, but again it is too early to predict.
In the East, the Miami Heat lost Shaquille O’Neal for during the first week of the season, but has played well without the “Big Aristotle.” The big fella can no longer be called “Superman” since he always is injured.
He calls teammate Dwyane Wade “Flash,” which fits his style on the court. Any player who is on the same team with these two will automatically get good looks at the basket.
