About

The UWM Post, a weekly newspaper independently run by the students of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, serves as the primary source of student and campus news, coverage of collegiate athletics and on- and off- campus events and a forum to discuss issues and share opinions. It has been in publication since 1915 and became independently run in 1956. The newspaper publishes 10,000 issues every Monday during the fall and spring semesters and is distributed both on-campus and in the Greater Milwaukee metropolitan area.

Independently run and financed, the UWM Post is governed by a five-member Board of Directors elected by the staff membership. The Editor in Chief serves as chair by virtue of his or her position. The Board is responsible for financial solvency and employment matters.

The UWM Post continues to serve as the primary on-campus opportunity for students in journalism, graphic design, advertising and management programs. In addition, the UWM Post is an active member of the community through sponsoring educational and social events, supporting non-profit organizations and serving our readership.

The UWM Post maintains national affiliations with U-WIRE, the Associated Collegiate Press, the Student Press Law Center and the Society for Professional Journalists. It has won awards from the American Scholastic Press Association, Wisconsin Newspaper Association, and a Best of Show award from the Associated Collegiate Press. The UWM Post’s coverage on various events and issues is regularly cited in student and other publications.
