As Wisconsinites, most of us are familiar with two things: beer and cold weather. Now that it feels like summer has abandoned us for the year, it’s time to bust out the winter coats and hibernate indoors.
Not many bars in Milwaukee know beer like Stonefly Brewery. Here are a few of the taps that they have been keenly perfecting to coincide with snow pants season.
Moustache Ride Pale Ale, 6 percent abv.
This is Stonefly’s flagship brew and possibly their most flavorful. This pale ale has a nice crisp bitterness that is absent from the other taps. It has a reddish-pink hue and a hoppy aroma. While sampling the gauntlet of beer, this would be one to try later due to its assault on the taste buds.
4 Wolves English Ale, 5 percent abv.
Their description states that it’s “Good enough to make you howl!” It’s a milder version of the Moustache Ride. With its mellow flavor and sweetness, 4 Wolves is ideal for the occasional beer drinker.
Ol-Sea-a-way
This scotch ale is difficult to pin down. Its dark amber color and malty sweet flavor makes for a unique taste. Stonefly’s brew master even admitted that when they made the batch, it tasted quite different than the other styles of scotch ale they had made. It has a peculiar taste, but it’s definitely worth trying.
6 Finger IPA, 7 percent abv.
Using sixteen pounds of hops in every batch, 6 Finger is by far the strongest of the group. This Indian pale ale’s flavor is strong enough that the aroma can be enjoyed simultaneously with the taste.
Simon Bagley Stout, 5.5 percent abv.
Even to someone who isn’t a beer connoisseur, the chocolate and coffee flavor should be evident in this brew. The black color and coffee aroma may make its drinkers think they’re at Starbucks. The chocolate emerges with the first sip and escalates in the aftertaste.
Those were only a few of the delicious beers that Stonefly has to offer for the holiday season. Complementing this assortment is a great selection of food and great music. So as the thermometer continues to drop and you begin to notice your breath in the air, Stonefly Brewery will be there to warm you up.
