ORIGINAL POST:
The Post asked for creativity and wackiness for the 2010 Muse photo contest and ticket giveaway, and we sure got it.
Students were asked to submit creative photos, shot however they pleased. The only stipulation was that they had to include a copy of the newspaper somewhere in the photo.
Post staff members have selected four finalists from the pool of entries. Now you, the student body, get to vote on your favorites. You can only vote once (we have some crazy tech stuff in place to make sure you don’t cheat), and the winner will be announced at 5PM this Friday.
The winner of the contest will receive two tickets to see Muse and Passion Pit hit the Bradley center on October 6.
Here are the finalists:
An Evening with the Post
Post Pong
Post Birthday Suit
Food for Thought
You have until 5PM on Friday, Sept 24 to vote. The Post would also like to congratulate the finalists for somehow incorporating alcohol in each submission.

I think David Schaefer’s creativity is something to be admired. That kid is going somewhere.
I agree, David Schaefer is the man.
Yes, David Schaefer has a pin-like dabble on creativity. Enough said.
Clearly the next Picasso. I can’t even begin to comprehend all of the subtleties of his work. So advanced.
David Schaefer is the photo revelation! I don’t know where the creative world of tomorrow would be without him at the helm. Thank God for David Schaefer!
This artistic piece by David is a strike of genius.
WOW!!! THAT ONE WITH THE TOPLESS GUY IS HILARIOUS!!! THAT GETS MY VOTE. GOD BLESS AMERICA! GO PACK GO!
David Schaefer fo sho! Too flippin’ hilarious! Love that kid!
I have no words, David took them all.
I am taken aback by the birthday suit. It is simply a great image.
That birthday suit is one of the most phenomenally dynamic images I’ve seen. Today’s artistic youth is something to place faith in.
Bravo, David Schaefer.
David is an Artist.
David Schaefer… what a sexy beast. I want a bite of that man meat.
“An Evening with the Post” seems to be a bit preachy. It is a 4 panel anti-smoking comic. In addition, there is continuity errors: Hardwood floors in the first three pannels, cracked and charred concrete on the last.
The “Post Birthday Suit” however, is sheer genius. How the other three became “finalists” is beyond me.
David Schaefer’s brilliant masterpiece implores the viewer to juxtapose in their minds the profoundly symbolic and interweaving worlds of emerging adulthood…and emerging art. Only with “Post Birthday Suit” can the fine arts community move forward and re-learn just what it is to be inspired.
Mine eyes have seen the glory…of the coming of the Suit.
i think i just pooped myself that diaper pic is an instant classic. spagetti?? wtf. lulz were had by all
i want that cheeky wee birthday suit man to win! better than the beer pong gal… shes filth! COME ON DAVID!
How do the rest even compare to the birthday-suit spaghetti one? It’s like if a poem could be a photo. With moderate nudity.
mmmm abs
I would go gay for David.
i’d go gay for jables who went gay for david just to create a filthy delicious love triangle of fabulosity.
and abs.
I think post pong is a brilliant idea! Creative, cutting edge idea! I definitely voted for Caitlin Meyers
Evening with the post is the only funny one. Rest are….meh.
The underwear Picture is tacky!
Such a weak rebuttal to the rave reviews of critically-acclaimed, groundbreaking Post Birthday Suit can only point to one truth: the Birthday Suit is clearly the superior.
David Schaefer should win it all
“The Birthday Suit” is a marvelous artistic design where as the other three are the Carl Sandburg’s of artistry, and by this I mean dull and dumbed down.
Perhaps the closest thing that the 21st century will ever come to Michelangelo’s David is Post Birthday Suit. The pure imagery and symbolic nature behind it sets the tone for what seems like a new artistic movement. Truly art in its purest form. Bravo.
I love the paper-pizzas in the Food For Thought one!
I have no idea what you are all talking about. That bro in a paper diaper is nothing short of revolting.
I couldn’t believe that all the props in Food for Thought were mad of paper. The most creative one by far.
Props shmops. David’s underwear are from of paper… And it’s actually a well framed shot with no distractions or intrusions (*Ahem* Post pong.) Yeah, I voted Birthday Suit.
Obviously the only one who pays attention to photographic details of aesthetics was David Schaefer. The composition itself is leagues ahead of other submissions, regardless of the fact that the content is most pleasing.
hai guise! teh birthday suit ftw…amidoinitrite?! m0st lulzy is teh suit. post pong? tits or gtfo.
inb4lame rebuttal
yo turbo you from /b/?
lulz
I love it David.

Well gee, it sounds like all of the comments for “Post Birthday Suit” may have come from David Schaefer himself. Not that it’s obvious or anything, just a little sad the only legitimate comments are about the OTHER finalists. Great job everybody, sure hope the person who wins actually deserves it.
NOPE
Even people from California appreciate David’s talent and creativity!
Rationalization is the strongest reaction of the jealous. I know for a fact David has only posted one comment to date, and his friends and people he doesn’t even know have posted many, because I’ve told a grand amount of my own friends to come look at how cool his picture is. Instead of being a sore loser, why not use that energy to go vote for the people you like instead of making crybaby, accusatory comments.
To the “faux” David Schaefer,
Well gee, your complaint may have been more credible if you didn’t hijack and hide behind your opposition’s name to make your point. And no, all the comments did not, in fact, come from David, but I’d love to see your “obvious” evidence otherwise.
I voted for David’s, but I think Jerod’s is intellectual and artsy, and Nelson’s is fun and creative.
I like Jerod’s too. I also like David’s. I think it’s funny that David himself is in Jerod’s photo. Funny.
Hey “To David Schaefer” how can you say that it is obvious? Since commenting is just short of completely anonymous there is no way to prove one way or the other whether Dave posted any comments, even the one with his own name.
Now I realize that the majority of his friends from Slinger have a flair for the dramatic and embellish the glory of Dave’s photo in a similar fashion, for the sake of comedy, but come on man; proof that they are real people is the number of times Dave has been voted for. He has lots of friends who have lots of friends, and some of them left comments. Don’t make this friendly competition something bitter. All the submissions are great, so let’s just sit back and watch the voting unfold.
Congratz Dave!
ROCKIN’ IT DAVID.
You worked for this, buddy. Congrats. c:
Shining with vision and talent, David Schaefer masterfully conquers.
